See How Our Experience with Vitiligo Can Help You
Vitiligo is a relatively common skin ailment that results in the formation of white patches on the skin. Despite the prevalence of vitiligo, though, the causes of this condition remain mostly a mystery. Giving their best estimation, doctors and dermatologists believe that vitiligo stems from some sort of autoimmune malfunction, though research is ongoing. At Premier Dermatology Partners, we don’t pretend to have all the answers regarding vitiligo or any other enigmatic skin condition — however, we have helped countless patients deal with their vitiligo thanks to our array of knowledge and abundance of experience
How We Can Treat Vitiligo
We Have Diagnosed Many Vitiligo Cases
Over the years, our practice has encountered and treated thousands of vitiligo cases. We deliver accurate diagnoses through a variety of methods. Initially, our providers will perform a physical/visual exam, looking for areas of depigmentation and paying particular attention to their patterning (i.e. symmetrical or randomly distributed). When diagnosing patients with fair skin, our practitioners may need to shine a blue ultraviolet (UV) light on their skin to detect differences in skin tone along the body. If the physical examination doesn’t reveal a concrete conclusion, we may perform a skin biopsy or blood test. One of these methods will eventually indicate whether or not the patient is afflicted with vitiligo.
We’re Aware of the Latest Vitiligo Treatment Options
Our dermatology experts aren’t merely capable of diagnosing vitiligo — Premier Dermatology Partners can also recommend and/or provide a variety of effective treatment options, including:
- Topical steroids
- Calcineurin inhibitors
- Phototherapy/light therapy for vitiligo
- Skin grafting
- Cosmetic camouflage
Our providers work closely with each vitiligo patient to determine the best treatments and therapies for their skin.
